The Summer Reading Challenge is about to get FREAKY!

It's that time of year again, folks. The SUMMER READING CHALLENGE book list has been announced and Freaky and Fearless, written by Robin and illustrated by the supremely talented Jan Bieleckihas made the cut! WOO HOO!

For those who don't know, the summer reading challenge is an amazing initiative run by The Reading Agency as a way to inspire children to discover and consume books for pleasure. It's the largest programme of its type in the country, and over 98% of UK library authorities are involved.

This year's theme is BIG FRIENDLY READS, tying in nicely to the Roald Dahl anniversary celebrations, and each of the books has been selected because it falls under one of six themes that made Roald's books so engaging - friendship, mischief, invention, wordplay, adventure and champions ... and Freaky seems to apply to all of them!

Here's a snapshot of the other awesome books on the list. Click to see LARGE!

Included in the category for older readers alongside Freaky is Evil Emperor Penguin, written and illustrated by fellow Phoenix creator, Laura Ellen Anderson. This is more great news for comics, as Lorenzo's first Von Doogan book, was chosen for the 2014 reading list!

Yep, that's two Etherington books in three years ... we're rather proud of that fact!

Roll on the summer, we say. Here's to everyone enjoying a good read as much as this little chap...
