2nd Annual Phoenix Comic Festival is a HIT!

On Saturday 3rd May, the combined forces of The Phoenix comic descended upon Oxford's Story Museum. Our mission: to unleash comic-related mayhem upon a legion of young readers.

It was a mighty, MIGHTY success.

For eight fun-filled hours Lorenzo and I joined our fellow creators to meet, greet and entertain an army of Phoenix fans. Aside from the workshops and talks and presentations and comic jams and sketch-a-thons and myriad other activities, the festival also saw the pre-release launch of the first two titles from the Phoenix Library: Bunny Vs. Monkey, by Jamie Smart, and Lorenzo's Von Doogan. Both brilliant adventures were literally flying off the shelves faster than they could be stacked!

Yes it was a great day, but in all cases such as these (and comics in general) pictures speak better than words. So without further ado, sit back and enjoy a small sample of the day's merriment.

Many thanks to the Phoenix team for creating such a wonderful event - a festival as unique as the comic itself - and for every one of you who turned up to have fun and say hi. Here's to next year - it's going to be a stormer!

100 giants of the comic, animation and games industries in one book!

I'm very proud to announce that an epic new art book I'm involved in, 21 DRAW, has just gone live on Indiegogo. The book features artwork by 100 of the best comic, animation and games artists in the world, with each artist creating what is effectively a set of incredible original character design model sheets, with multiple poses, dynamic action shots, gestures and facial expressions.

Each artist tackles a different character type, (Warrior, troll, hero, mech, racer, etc etc) and will then produce a series of full illustrations of the character from multiple angles, performing various actions.

What all this amounts to is a 400 PAGE BOOK which showcases a myriad of styles, approaches and character types, by a group of industry leading artists - the definitive masterclass in figure drawing and character creation.

Von Doogan chosen for the Summer Reading Challenge!

Ahhhh YEAH! As announced HERE by DFB, my new Von Doogan book (along with Jamie Smart's awesome Bunny vs Monkey) has been chosen to be one of the Summer Reading Challenge books by the Reading Agency! The Summer reading challenge is an initiative run though libraries each year over the summer holidays which gets nearly a million children engaged in reading and discovering new books. To have Von Doogan be a part of that means a whole load of new readers will be able to enjoy the dangerous puzzles and challenges of the Golden Monkey adventure - which is basically AWESOME!

A huge thank you to the Reading Agency for their support in choosing the book to be a part of this summer's activities!
